CONGRATULATIONS JOE

know of the many accomplishments of our
own Joe Gonsalves. The following are
some extraordinary honors he has
received:
On April 14, 2008, Joe was inducted into
the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. The
occasion was held at the Hyatt Regency in
Morrisville, NJ. He received the
Grandmaster of the Year Award and was
promoted to Senior Grandmaster.
On May 6, 2008 he was inducted into the
Martial Arts World Hall of Fame. Joe also
received the “Spirit of Champions” Award.
The ceremony was held in Orlando at the
Hyatt Regency.
Joe teaches Tai Chi at the Lost Lakes
Clubhouse every Monday and Friday
morning at 9:00am. ANYONE interested
in attending these classes is welcome.

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DOLL!
On May 12, 2008 the gracious ‘young’ lady
pictured below celebrated her 97th
birthday. At a party in her honor, she was
unanimously selected “Honorary First
Lady of Lost Lakes”.
A belated “Happy Birthday” to Peggy
Goodwin.
KUDOS
Many thanks to Dunc Brackett for inviting
the new City of Cocoa Fire Chief to speak
at our June 18th Wednesday Breakfast.
Chief Murphy answered questions from
residents. One point that he stressed was
having NUMBERS ON YOUR HOUSE.
This community is unusual in that in part of
the community home numbers on one side
of the street change by 2 digits, (i.e. 100
Woodsmill then 102 Woodsmill), and in
other parts of the community home
numbers on one side of the street change
by 10 digits, (i.e. 200 Scenic Drive then 210
Scenic Drive).
Chief Murphy said that it is a great help to
“Rescue & Fire” units to have LARGE
numbers on the house. Also, be sure
your lamppost light is lit.
The Activities Committee will be hosting
a “CLASSICAL MUSIC WINE AND CHEESE”
cocktail party on August 16th between 4
and 6pm.
The committee would like to give something
back to the community for participating in all
the various events that we have had
throughout this and other years.
If you have hosted an event, worked at an
event, helped clean the clubhouse, pool
area and grounds, helped with the
gardening, or just supported by attending
an event, it goes without saying that what
you have done is most appreciated.
With the community’s support, the Activities
Committee has been able to purchase
coffee urns, grills, vacuum cleaners,
umbrellas and many other needed supplies.
Look for more information about this party
for YOU in the August Newsletter.

FLAG DAY LUNCHEON RECAP
The Flag Day Luncheon turned out to be a roaring
success. We have had so many comments about
how much everyone enjoyed the relaxed
atmosphere and the fun of just being together.
In addition, due to the generosity of those who
made the soups and sandwiches, the day was
financially successful as well.
Congratulations to Jayne Stillwell for organizing this
event and including a Flag Day Quiz in the
festivities. How many correct answers did you get?
(This editor did not do too well).
Thanks also to Pat Ryan and the Veterans Group
for their part in the day.
Please let the Activities Committee know if you
would like to have other luncheons such as this in
the future.

The Lost Lake Golfers, Diane Svrcek, Lorraine
Brackett, Nancy Floyd, Ginny Guear and Lila
Perkowski enjoying the links in St. Augustine and
nourishment at Harry’s Restaurant. A great time
and good golf was enjoyed by all.
