Meeting

matter is greatly appreciated.

MEMORIAL DAY PICNIC
The Vets are hosting another
fantastic Memorial Day Picnic this
year on Monday May 26th from 12 to
4 at the Clubhouse. The last few
years were a smashing success and
everyone had a great time.
Activities start with the traditional
Memorial Day flag raising ceremony
promptly at 12:00 followed by food at
12:05. There is no limit on tickets, but
get them early and bring all your
friends. We had nearly 200 last year
who ate inside, outside, poolside, and
dockside. Optional-bring your
bathing suit and a folding chair for
outside. We will have music, prizes,
and fun.
All you can eat includes burgers,
cheeseburgers, chili cheese burgers,
dogs, cheese dogs, chili dogs, beans,
potato salad, corn on the cob, chips,
chili, desert, cold drinks, bottled
water, and coffee.
Our SPECIAL every year is genuine
Zellwood sweet corn cooked in the
husk to an old family recipe and
dipped in melted butter. You will come
back for more.
The tickets will be $10.00. However, if
you purchase your ticket at the
Saturday Breakfast, the tickets will be
only $9.00 per person. Otherwise,
please call Pat Ryan for tickets.
There is nothing
in our documents that says that a
snowbird (someone who is absent for
6 months of the year) cannot be
elected to the board. So you
snowbirds who think your volunteering
is not welcome because of your
absence do not despair. You are
needed. So go ahead and volunteer
for something.
May JUC meeting
Dee Meisner, Cocoa Police, will be at
the May JUC meeting to answer
questions regarding safety/security
issues.
The next Neighborhood Watch
meeting will be May 14, in the
clubhouse at 7pm. Please make an
effort to attend.
SHARING CENTER
We are all aware of the Central
Brevard Sharing Thrift Center in our
neighborhood and the great job they
do in providing for our less fortunate
residents. They have recently found a
renewed surge of people needing
many articles of clothing, shoes, and
all other needs of someone who has
no home to call their own. People can
go there and get a hot shower and a
change of new (used) clothes. But the
need is great right now and they have
a limited supply. We know the
generosity of the people of Lost
Lakes and we are sure you will
answer the call.
Please drop off any donations to
Sandy Lammert, 292 Scenic Drive.
Thank you, all donations will be
appreciated.
TAP DANCE CLASSES
The tap dance classes have been a
tremendous success and everyone's
enjoying the exercise and learning
something new. The three present
classes entertained at the
WESTWARD HO party. The biggest
group will entertain on May 3rd for the
KENTUCKY DERBY party.
New classes are organizing for Fall.
They will begin October 4th. We
already have 10 women for a new
class and 13 men for a "Men's Only"
class. No experience needed!
Classes are free. All you need are
shoes which cost $28.75 including
handling & shipping.
If you are interested in having a lot of
fun and great exercise, give me a call!

LAWN CARE NEWS
You have probably noticed the white
and green trucks of Massey Services,
Inc. recently in our community. They are
the new company which has been hired
to treat our lawns for fertilization, weed
control and insect control. They began
their work in Northwest Lakes on
Monday, April 14 and will treat the entire
community including common areas this
month. They will then come on an every
other month basis.
A representative from Massey Services
has agreed to attend the Veteran’s
Breakfast in June to answer any
questions residents may have
concerning their lawns.
Massey Services, Inc. will also be
offering special prices to our community
for other services, i.e. shrubs, plants,
trees, home insects and termite control.
In addition, they have agreed to Free
irrigation inspections and Free
WDO/Real Estate Inspections for our
community as part of their services.
More information will follow on this as
they are preparing an ad to be placed in
our newsletter.
In addition, each month there will be
some “Fast Facts” placed in our
newsletter concerning problems which
you might encounter for that particular
time of year and/or weather conditions,
etc. They will also have brochures at the
Veteran’s Breakfast which will give you
additional information.
There will be a clipboard located on the
clubhouse bulletin board where you will
be able to place any concerns or
questions regarding the services
performed on your property by Massey
Services. A representative from Massey
Services will receive these on a weekly or
bi-weekly basis and will come to the
property to assess and address the
problem/concern. If you are unable to go
to the clubhouse or just wish to speak to
someone directly you may do so as
follows:

THE FACT FINDING GATE
COMMITTEE UPDATE
This update is to be submitted to the JUC
at their meeting in May.
Subcommittee one, chaired by Gerald
Clark and Jean Ripley, has been in
contact with Mr. Rick Szpyrkn of the Land
Development Office of Brevard County.
He indicated that he would be open to
discussing the possible use of part of the
Friday Road right-a-way for possible
gate construction. Action here depends
upon deliberations in sub-committee
two. In the interim, an “As Built”
document will be requested from that
office to assist subcommittee two. Review
of Condo documents and other
documents relating to liability are still
being studied.
Subcommittee two, chaired by Leon
Kroguiski and Harold Johnstone, met on
4/15 with 13 residents and the project
manager for Emerald Lakes, Danny
Osmond.
Danny indicated what data he would
need to prepare detailed costs. First was
an “As Built” drawing from the County.
The first suggestion for a gate system
was an entrance way with 2 seven foot
panels and an exit way with 2 seven foot
panels plus a walk thru gate for walkers
and bicycles. A separate entrance for
residents
would involve detail work on the roadway,
including dealing with storm waste drains.
Carmen, Jack and Don will prepare a
drawing of this suggestion, which
includes the guard shack, for the next
meeting. Jack proposed that we consider
a building located at our entrance way to
handle resale of homes in the park. This
effort continued next column

LOST LAKES GARDEN COMMITTEE
I want to thank those who donated to our
table at the “Community Yard Sale”.
In the last two months, we have
transplanted and put in 16 trees (some of
them “Memorial Trees.). The front
entrance has been cleaned up and
reworked. We also transplanted 14
bushes in different areas.
WORK DAY-EARTH DAY was a fantastic
success. We had 40 people working,
and some who could not help, donated
money, mulch, edging and support for all
of us. We cleaned up the chairs in the
gazebo, picnic tables and benches
lakeside, trimmed trees, and put down
200 bags of mulch.
The furniture and chairs in the pool area
were cleaned, cobwebs wiped away,
windows washed on the inside and the
kitchen cabinets, drawers, etc. were
thoroughly cleaned.
We want to thank the Activities
Committee for treating us to delicious
pizza and beverages and the “tappers”
for providing our entertainment.
There are simply too many people to
thank by name, so I want to give a
GREAT BIG THANKS to each and
everyone who helped and also to the
ones who are with us every Monday
morning.
Lost Lakes is a great community and I am
very proud to be a small part of it. It
takes all of us to make it the great place
that it is. We have neighbors helping
neighbors to care for our homes and our
community. THANK YOU, THANK YOU,
THANK YOU

FACT FINDING continued
would be managed mostly by volunteers
and real estate agents from within the
park. All proceeds are to go into our
reserve accounts. The guard shack
might possibly serve a dual purpose. Joe
inquired as to down time for gate repair
work caused by accidents. Danny will get
an answer to this question. Another gate
representative will present at the next
meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, April 29
at 10:30 AM at the club house.
Subcommittee three, chaired by Harry
Huck and Joe Dalton advises that the
downed fence at the entrance side of the
park is now in the process of being
repaired by the JUC. Issues relating to
the South side of the park, where only a
wooded area protects the park, will be
reviewed in the final report.
